Narrow heel, wide forefoot
A foot that is wide at the ball but slim at the heel is common. Length-only sizing fails — you need a last that matches both dimensions or adjustable closure (laces, straps).
What shoes work for wide forefoot and narrow heel?
Lace-up shoes with multiple width grades (New Balance, Brooks, ASICS 2E/4E) let you lock the heel while accommodating forefoot width. Slip-ons and narrow-lasted performance brands (On, Salomon) struggle with this foot shape.
Should I size up for a wide forefoot?
Only if the brand has no wide width. Otherwise buy wide width at your measured length - see Shoes for Wide Feet.
